On the 29 November 2017 the “Ramakrishna Society –Vedanta Centre”, Moscow, supported by the Embassy of India in the Russian Federation held a meeting commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sister Nivedita at the D. P. Dhar Hall of the Indian Cultural Centre in Moscow. There were two speakers at the meeting. Swami Jyotirupananda, President of the Ramakrishna Society, gave an inspiring lecture on the purity of character of Miss Margaret Elizabeth Noble, the predestination of her encounter with Swami Vivekananda and her spiritual transformation under his guidance into Sister Nivedita. Padmashree Doctor R. B. Rybakov, the leading Russian Indologist and one of the initiators of the Society, spoke about the role of Sister Nivedita in the renaissance of Indian womanhood and relentless efforts to inspire the nationalist movement for independence of India, also her eternal relationship with Swami Vivekananda, expressing his regret that her excellent literary heritage is not known in Russia. Swami Atmalokananda and Swami Vidishananda participated at the function with Dr. Liliana Malkova acting as a moderator.
