Free Cataract Surgery Camp
On March 16, 2025, Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, in collaboration with Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, successfully organized a free screening camp for cataract surgeries. A total of 146 outpatients were examined, comprising 74 males, 69 females, and 3 children. Following the screenings, 51 patients were selected for cataract surgery. Subsequently, all 51 identified patients underwent successful cataract surgery on March 21, 2025, at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. Additionally, 25 patients were provided with spectacles during the camp.
Free Ration Kits to Eye Patients
The 51 eye patients who underwent surgery were each provided with a free ration kit. Each kit consisted of 1 Kg Dal, 1 Kg Sugar, 0.5 Kg Tamarind, 1 Kg Edible Oil, 200 grams Chilli Powder, 0.5 Kg Sambar Powder, 1 Kg Sooji, and 1 bathing soap.
Free Diabetic Checkup Camp
On March 16, 2025, concurrent with the Eye Camp, a Free Diabetes Camp was organized at the Madurai ashrama in collaboration with Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Speciality Centre, Madurai. The camp focused on the screening of individuals for diabetes through Random Blood Sugar (RBS) checks. A total of 141 patients were screened, comprising 73 males and 68 females. Among those screened, 75 patients were identified as diabetic. Following the diagnosis, these patients received prescribed medicines and personalized Diet Charts from a qualified dietitian.
