As part of year-long celebrations of 150th Birth Anniversary of Sister Nivedita, to promote indigenous games we have conducted a “State Level Kabaddi Tournament” from 15-12-2017 to 17-12-2017.
Sri K. Baskaran, Former Captain of Indian Kabaddi Team and Coach, Tamil Thalaivas team, participated as Chief Guest in the Inaugural Function. Swami Bhaktikamanandaji, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishn Math, Coimbatore presided over the Valedictory Function. Sri A. Saffiulla, General Secretary Tamil Nadu Amateur Kabaddi Association and Indian Olympic EC Member participated as Chief Guest in the Valedictory Function.
Seventeen institutions from all over Tamil Nadu participated in this tournament. SRM University, Chennai won a cash prize of Rs.15,000.00, trophy and medals for securing first place. Karpagam University, Coimbatore; Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education, Coimbatore and Saraswathi Thiyagaraja College, Pollachi won the II, III & IV prizes respectively.
