On September 11, the Ramakrishna Math, Chennai celebrated Universal Brotherhood Day with a series of events. Swami Atmaghanananda, Swami Dhyanagamyananda, Swami Satyajnanananda, Swami Raghunayakananda, and Shri Ganesh, Principal Chief Safety Officer of Southern Railways, participated in the commemorations.
The program began with floral offerings to the Holy Trio and Swami Vivekananda’s statue, followed by Arati and lamp-lighting. Students from MOP Vaishnav College performed an opening song to invoke Swami Vivekananda’s blessings.
Br. Vanishachaitanya, gave the welcome address, highlighting the significance of Universal Brotherhood Day. Swami Dhyanagamyananda delivered an inspiring speech on how to make Swami Vivekananda relevant in today’s world and become better human beings.
Shri Ganesh emphasized the Chicago Speech as a wake-up call for humanity to overcome selfishness and work together for a better society. Swami Atmaghanananda shared his experiences serving in Sri Lanka.
Five students from four colleges presented their views on the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Speech in the current context. Swami Raghunayakananda encouraged attendees to adopt at least one Swami Vivekananda quotation.
Approximately 220 students participated in the celebrations, receiving notepads, pens, and Swami Vivekananda’s literature. Tea, snacks, and lunch prasad were served to all.
