Once in the course of conversation I said to the Mother: “Mother, the condition of my mind is sometimes so restless that I get scared I might be drowned in maya.”
The Mother emphatically said: “What do you say, my son? Why will you drown? You are the Master’s child and my child also. You will never be drowned. The Master will always protect you. You have read in the Master’s book that a frog cannot escape if it is caught by a cobra. The Master is holding you.”

একদিন কথা-প্রসঙ্গে মাকে বলিলাম,“মা, আমার মনের যে অবস্থা, সময়ে সময়ে মন যেরূপ চঞ্চল হয়, ভয় হয় — ডুবে যাবো নাকি |”
মা থামিয়া জোর দিয়া বলিতে লাগিলেন,“সে কি বাবা, বল কি গো ! ডুববে কি ? ঠাকুরের সন্তান, আমার ছেলে ! — ডুববে কি ? কখনই না | ঠাকুর তোমাদের রক্ষা করবেন | ঠাকুরের বইতে পড়েছ তো, জাত-সাপের ব্যাঙ-ধরা ! ঠাকুর তোমাদের ধরে রেখেছেন |”
