Kumbhabhishekam: Thanjavur – Village Centre

A new branch centre of Ramakrishna Math started in 2020 in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Prior to this, a village centre was functioning near the Punnainallur Mariamman Temple for the last 26 years. The temple of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna in the village centre was renovated on Ganesha Chaturthi, 10 September 2021.

The Kumbhabhishekam took place on 10 September following the two-day Yagashala Puja Purnahuti.  Special puja and Homa were held for Sri Ramakrishna. The ensuing public meeting was presided over by Srimath Swami Gautamananda Maharaj. Only about 250 devotees, including 20 monks attended the celebration due to the Corona restriction. Annadanam was subsequently given to 500 poor people. In the evening Govindapuram Sri Vittaldas Maharaj’s special Nama Sankeerthanam took place.

On the next day, Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago address Day, Sri Satyamurthy, district judge, spoke about the glories that India has gained from the impact of the Chicago address. Srimath Swami Gautamananda Maharaj gave the benediction and presented prizes and certificates to the winners of an online contest on ten topics on ‘Corona pandemic awareness’ conducted by Sri Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur.

In the evening, there were traditional valorous Karakattam, Oyilattam, Mayilattam, Karate and Silambattam performances attended by the youth. The celebration concluded with a special lecture by Govindapuram Sri Balaji Bhagavathar on Swami Vivekananda Chicago Speech.
