National Youth Day on 12Â January 2023:
Ramakrishna Mission, Puri celebrated National Youth Day on 12 January 2023. The centre organized a procession on 12 January 2023. At 7.30 in the morning, the procession accompanied by a Banner & a band party of Ashrama students marched towards Sea beach, Puri for offering garlands at the statue of Swamiji. Approximately 70 members headed by Swami Sudarshananandaji Maharaj a senior monk including monks of the Ashrama, devotees, volunteers, students, teachers & admirers participated in this procession. After garlanding at the statue of Swami Vivekananda, the procession terminated at the Ashrama and Tiffin packets were distributed among the participants.Â
Competitions:
To boost awareness among the students and youths about the character-building and man-making message of Swami Vivekananda, the centre organized sit-and-draw, recitation, essay and elocution competitions for primary, secondary, higher secondary and college & university students on and from 5 to 9 January 2023. The total numbers of participants were 139.
Prize & Scholarship distribution ceremony:Â Â
On 22 January 2023, the centre organized a public meeting where Prizes for winners of the competitions and Scholarships for poor and meritorious students of Colleges & Universities were given. The function was inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting lamps and offering garlands and flowers to the portrait of Swami Vivekananda. The programme started with the students rendering an opening song. The speakers of the programme were Swami Advayananda (Chief Guest), Editor, Vivek Prabha, Ramakrishna Mission, Bhubaneswar and Sri Bibhu Prasad Tripathy (Guest of Honour), Govt. Advocate, Odisha High Court, Bhubaneswar. The Secretary of the Ashrama presented the welcome and introductory address. Prizes along with Photo and Books on Swami Vivekananda were distributed to the winners of the competitions held from 5th to 9th January 2023 & Scholarships were distributed among the College & University going students along with a pen, photo and a book on Swami Vivekananda and tiffin packets were distributed among the students. The function concluded with a vote of thanks speech by Sri Satya Narayan Mishra (Retd. Headmaster), Puri.Â
