Swami Brahmapadananda

We record with sorrow the passing away of Swami Brahmapadananda (Vishnupada of Belur Math) at our Mumbai hospital on 4 October at 6 am.  He was 68.  He had been suffering from lung cancer for some time and was sent to Mumbai centre last year for treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital.  Although he later recovered, his health deteriorated again a couple of weeks ago.  He was then admitted to our Mumbai hospital and the end came peacefully.  Initiated by Swami Bhuteshanandaji Maharaj, he joined the order in 1977 at Belur Math and received sannyasa diksha from Swami Gambhiranandaji Maharaj in 1987.  He served at Belur Math and Mumbai, Asansol, Baghbazar, Rahara, Belgharia, Chandipur and Saradapitha centres.  He had been staying at Belur Math since 2014.  The swami was simple and quiet by nature.
