Tornado Relief
West Bengal: A violent tornado blew through the Jalpaiguri district on 31 March. In the wake of the disaster, Jalpaiguri centre distributed 2500 kg rice, 1000 kg pulses, 500 kg puffed rice, 250 kg rice flakes (chira), 1000 kg potatoes, 500 kg soya chunks, 250 kg jaggery, 500 litres cooking oil, 500 kg salt, 550 packets of biscuits, 250 litres milk, 1050 litres drinking water, 3000 candles, 2500 matchboxes, 500 tubes of toothpaste, 500 toothbrushes, 56 saris, 22 woollen caps, 45 foam mats, 512 mosquito nets, 500 blankets and 500 tarpaulins among 500 families in Jalpaiguri district from 31 March to 4 April.
Fire Relief
India:
(i) Bihar: Following two fire incidents at villages Gopalpur and Bhadai in Muzaffarpur district on 2 April, Muzaffarpur centre provided 50 packets of biscuits, 50 loaves of bread, 50 mats, 50 bedsheets, 50 buckets, 50 mugs and 50 water drums to the 50 affected families on 6 and 7 April.
(ii) West Bengal: A devastating fire incident in a slum near Hasnabad Railway Station in North 24 Parganas district on 20 April reduced five houses into ashes. In the wake of the disaster, Taki centre distributed 50 kg rice, 10 kg pulses, 3 litres cooking oil, 5 saris, 5 lungis, 5 dhotis, 2 shirts, 5 towels, 5 mosquito nets, 5 tarpaulins, 5 pressure cookers, 5 kadais, 5 cooking pots (handis), 5 spatulas (khuntis), 5 ladles, 10 plates, 5 gamlas, 5 tea pans, 10 tumblers, 10 buckets, 5 mugs, 5 jugs, 5 tubes of toothpaste, 5 toothbrushes, 10 bars of bathing soap and 3 kg detergent powder among the 5 affected families on 22 April.
Bangladesh: A major fire broke out at Jelepara in Chittagong and burned down 30 houses. Chittagong centre extended a helping hand to the victims by distributing 30 saris and 30 sets of utensils among the 30 affected families on 23 April. Each set contained 2 cooking pots (dekchi), 1 kadai, 1 gamla, 1 ladle, 1 spatula (khunti), 1 perforated spatula, 1 plate, 1 bucket and 1 mug.

Odisha:
(a) Cuttack centre served 82,500 glasses of buttermilk and energy drink to thirsty passers-by from 15 to 29 April.

West Bengal: Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House, Kolkata, distributed, from 19 to 27 April, 884 kits containing lassi, drinking water, ORS and lozenges among 884 traffic police and those driving rickshaws, autos, taxis and buses.
Distress Rehabilitation
Maharashtra: Mumbai centre excavated a well and installed a solar-powered drinking water system at Biraripada village in Palghar district. The facility was inaugurated on 20 April.
Economic Rehabilitation
Assam: Guwahati centre handed over 11 sewing machines and 10 handloom machines (tantsals) to needy women on 17 March.

Maharashtra: Mumbai centre distributed 3 medical kits to ASHA workers in 3 villages of Palghar district on 20 April.
