Ramakrishna Math, Chennai celebrated Swamiji’s 129th Chicago Address Day (Universal Brotherhood Day) as part of the 125th anniversary of Chennai Math. Dr (Smt) Tamilisai Soundararajan, Hon’ble Governor of Telangana & Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry participated as Chief Guest and delivered the Chief guest’s address. Most Revered Swami Gautamananda ji Maharaj rendered benediction. Prof V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras gave a special talk. Many other dignitaries participated in the function. Around 500 devotees & students participated in the function.

September 11, Swamiji’s 129th Chicago address day (Universal Brotherhood Day) was celebrated in the Vivekananda Cultural Centre (inside Vivekananda House campus) in a humble manner in connection with the 125th anniversary of Chennai Math. Several speakers spoke about the importance of Swamiji’s speeches at the Parliament of Religions. Around 250 participated including 185 students from various colleges in and around Chennai.
To spread awareness about Swamiji’s Chennai lectures, from National Youth Day (January 12th) onwards, an open book competition was conducted. 5000+ students from 26 institutions in Chennai and a few surrounding districts participated and 265 students were selected as winners. Prize distribution for them was held on the occasion. About 185 winners from Chennai colleges received the prizes.
Hon’ble Governor released a book “Young India arise – Lectures in Tamil Nadu by Swami Vivekananda”. Most Revered Maharaj received the first copy.
All participants were given a free book of Swamiji’s Chicago address (Tamil & English in the same book) which was newly prepared for the occasion containing “Response to Welcome” and “Address at the Final Session”.
