Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot organized a Youth Convention on ‘Swami Vivekananda and Modern Youth’ on 11 September 2022 to commemorate the historic speech of Swami Vivekananda delivered in Chicago on 11 September 1893. The programme consisted of lectures by eminent speakers, chorus songs, and audio-visual and question-answer sessions. 550 youths attended the convention including principals and dignitaries and around 1400 viewed the programme online.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Shri Amit Arora, Municipal Commissioner, Rajkot; Shri B. S. Kaila, District Education Officer, Rajkot and Shri Girish Bhimani, Vice-Chancellor, Saurashtra University were present in the inaugural session and motivated the youth to assimilate the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
Swami Srikantananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Pune, spoke on Swami Vivekananda and the Modern Youth. Shri Ajay Umat, Editor-in-Chief, Navgujarat Samay spoke on the Relevance of Swami Vivekananda. Shri Hareshbhai Dholakia, Popular Gujarati Writer and Educationist, Bhuj spoke on the message of Swami Vivekananda for the Modern Youth. Dr Darshanaben Dholakia, Professor in the Dept. of Languages, Gujarati, K.S.K.V. Kachchh University spoke on Swami Vivekananda and Women Empowerment. Swami Sukhananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Bhuj, spoke on Swami Vivekananda and Mahavir Hanuman – Ideals of Modern Youth. Swami Nikhileswarananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot spoke on Swami Vivekananda and His Chicago Addresses.
