Ramakrishna Mission, Rajamahendravaram, conducted a Youth Convention on 11th June, 2016, to commemorate Sister Nivedita’s 150th Birth Anniversary. The Convention was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Rev. Swami Sarvalokanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai.
The Convention was presided over by Swami Kapalishanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Rajamahendravaram. In his address, he gave an outline of the life of Sister Nivedita and her selfless service to the people of India. Swami Sarvalokanandaji spoke on the noble ideas and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. He also analyzed the importance of education, Indian spiritual heritage and the greatness of Hinduism. Swami Sukritanandaji Maharaj gave speech on ‘Are we managing ourselves or we being managed?’ Swami Sevayanandaji gave speech on the benefits of meditation. He told that how practice of meditation makes human mind free from stress and tension. Swami Guneshanandaji gave speech on “Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita for Youth”.
After the inspiring speeches, a group discussion and cultural activities were conducted. Seven hundred students participated in the convention. They were provided breakfast, lunch and snacks. All participants were given certificates. Students of Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence also received certificates for the courses they completed at the Institute. Apart from students many others from surrounding areas attended the programme.
Swami Ishakripanandaji gave the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with singing of the bhajan Ramakrishna Saranam.
