Celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

The following centres held programmes mentioned against their names:

Bajepratappur, Bardhaman: A devotees’ convention on 13 July attended by 400 devotees, and a youth convention on 19 July attended by 450 students.

Barisha: Essay-writing and elocution competitions on 16 July in which 90 students participated.

Basavanagudi, Bengaluru: A devotees’ convention on 16 & 17 July in which 650 devotees took part.

Chennai Mission Ashrama: An orientation programme for school teachers on 23 July in which 165 teachers participated.

Coimbatore Math: A seminar for nursing students on 15 July attended by 250 students of three nursing colleges.

Coimbatore Mission: Five youths’ conventions from 2 to 23 July in which a total of 496 school students from Coimbatore and Mettupalayam took part.

Jhargram: Damodar Valley Corporation, Kolkata, held a programme on the centre’s campus on 27 July.  Cultural events and speeches were presented by the students.

Haripad: Special programmes at three schools on 4, 5 and 26 July attended by 466 students in all.

Hatamuniguda: Cultural competitions in July in which 535 students from 20 schools and 3 colleges participated.  A film on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was screened on 3 and 10 July.  The concluding programme on 24 July consisted of lectures and cultural events.  It was attended by 1000 people, mostly students.

Hyderabad: A youths’ convention on 30 July in which about 1000 youths from various colleges participated.

Jaipur: Painting and essay-writing competitions on 21 and 24 July respectively.  In all, 226 students took part in the competitions.

Kasundia, Howrah: A youths’ convention on 24 July which was attended by 300 students of 10 schools.

Kayamkulam: A seminar on “Swami Vivekananda’s vision of an ideal India” at a school in Haripad on 26 July attended by 107 students and teachers.

Koyilandy: A youths’ convention  on 2 July in which 90 students from 3 villages took part.

Limbdi: Special lectures for students and distribution of school uniforms on 15 July.

Lumdung: Folk dance and a drama on 13 July.

Manasadwip: Cultural competitions on 16 July in which 83 students from 10 schools participated.  On the next day, a youths’ convention was held which was attended by 207 youths.

Mangaluru: A seminar on the theme ‘Freedom comes with responsibility’ on 12 July which was attended by 600 young people.

Mekhliganj: A youths’ convention and a devotees’ convention at a nearby hall on 17 July.  The conventions were attended by 640 students and 250 devotees respectively.

Nagpur: A youths’ convention on 26 June in which 150 college students took part.

Nattarampalli: A personality development camp on 23 July which was attended by 55 students of class-10 studying in a government school.

Purnea: (a) Lectures and distribution of books on Swami Vivekananda among the students and teachers of several educational institutions in Purnea in July, and (b) A youths’ convention at an institute of technology on 26 July in which 170 students and teachers took part.

Raipur: A youths’ convention on 21 July in which 247 students took part.  The centre also conducted cultural competitions at different schools in Raipur.

Rajamahendravaram: Cultural competitions among students on 28 and 29 May in which 200 students took part.

Rajarhat Bishnupur: A students’ convention on 22 July attended by 130 students.

Ranchi Sanatorium: A youths’ convention on 13 July attended by 150 students.

Seva Pratishthan: A commemorative programme on 23 July attended by 350 people.  In the programme, speeches were delivered, a souvenir book was released and prizes were distributed to the winners in the cultural competitions held earlier.

Shyampukur Bati, Kolkata: A youths’ convention on 23 July in which 325 students from 6 schools took part.

Somsar: A youths’ convention on 3 July in which 260 students from surrounding villages participated.
