The Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai, observed National Youth Day 2026 through a series of commemorative events, workshops, and educational outreach programs across the city.
1. Commemorative Ceremonies
- Gateway of India (Apollo Bunder): The statue of Swami Vivekananda was garlanded in the presence of approximately 350 students and citizens. Distinguished guests included Shri Abhay Bapat (Head, Vivekananda Kendra, Maharashtra) and Dr. Sundar Natarajan (renowned Ophthalmologist).
- Mahim Causeway: A reverent garlanding ceremony was held at the bust of Swami Vivekananda, attended by 50 participants, including local school children.
2. Events at Vivekananda Auditorium (Mission Headquarters)
The Mission hosted a significant two-day program for the academic community:
- National Youth Day (Jan 12): Attended by 500 college students and devotees, the event was welcomed by Swami Satyadevananda. Keynote addresses were delivered by Dr. R. D. Kulkarni (Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University) and Shri Sanjoy Bhattacharjee (Former National Head, IOCL). Student speakers also shared reflections on Swamiji’s teachings.
- VIVEKA Workshop (Jan 13): A specialized half-day workshop for 187 students and faculty. Sessions on Holistic Wellness, Emotional Intelligence, and Practical Spirituality were led by Swami Devakantyananda, Swami Dayadhipananda, and Dr. Vipul Vyas.
3. Monastic Outreach
On January 10, Swami Dayadhipananda delivered an inspirational discourse at Bharati Vidyapeeth Department of Management Studies (Kharghar), reaching 500 students and 50 faculty members.
4. Volunteer-Led Educational Sessions
Dedicated teams of volunteers conducted hour-long sessions on Swami Vivekananda’s teachings at various colleges:
