Adolescent Health Awareness Camp: Madurai, November 2024

On Saturday, November 9th, 2024, Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, hosted a half-day program focused on Adolescent Health. This event brought together 180 teachers from 17 Madurai schools and 136 parents of students, totaling 316 participants.

The program, which ran from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, commenced with an opening song and introductions by Swamis Nityadipananda and Arkaprabhananda. A panel of esteemed medical professionals delivered insightful presentations:

  • Dr. Sundarapandian: A Certified Autism Specialist, discussed the physical and mental changes in teenagers and the crucial role of teachers and parents in guiding them.
  • Dr. Vidya: A Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist, delved into student psychology, behavioral issues, and effective solutions.
  • Dr. Dipen Chakravarty: A Physiotherapy expert, highlighted the importance of physical activity and sports in enhancing students’ quality of life.
  • Dr. Devi NPT: An Applied Psychologist and Speech Therapist, addressed the concerns of hearing and learning disabilities, learning deficiencies, and their remedies.

The program shed light on the pervasive impact of excessive cell phone and social media usage on adolescent health. The participants were deeply engaged and gained valuable insights from the expert speakers.
