Alumni Meet: Kalady, May 2025

Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady, Kerala


The 2nd Alumni Meet of the Brahmanandodayam Schools of Sri Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady, organized by the Alumni Association, was held on 30th April and 1st May 2025 at the Agamananda Open Stadium, Kalady. The two-day event included a public meeting and a variety of cultural programmes, including the historical drama Shaktan Thamburan staged by Kalagriham Kanjoor.

The public meeting was presided over by Swami Srividyananda, Adhyaksha of the Ashrama, who reflected on the school’s humble beginnings in 1936 under Swami Agamananda, and appreciated its academic growth and the important role of teachers and the PTA in nurturing character and discipline among students.

Justice Harishankar V. Menon inaugurated the event, speaking on the lifelong impact of teachers through a personal anecdote. Dr. Jayaraj, MLA and Chief Whip, shared nostalgic memories and credited the monks and educators of the school for shaping his life.

Swami Nandatmajananda, Editor of Prabuddha Keralam, Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Thrissur, emphasized the lasting influence of committed teachers. Sri P.S. Udayakumar presented the Alumni Association’s report. Several alumni, including past and present teachers and PTA members, also shared their experiences.

A key attraction of the meet was the unveiling of a silk-thread portrait (Chayachitram) of Swami Agamananda, crafted by Sri Udayakumar, which was warmly received.

The event concluded with a welcome address by Sri P. Rajeev and a vote of thanks by Sri T.P. Jayanthan Namboodiri, marking the end of a meaningful and memorable gathering.
