A three-day leadership workshop titled “Awaken the Leader Within – A Swami Vivekananda Leadership Workshop” was organised for students of Classes VIII to XII at Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar from 13 to 15 July 2026. The sessions were conducted by Sri Subir Bandyopadhyay, Former Vice-President of the Bank of New York and accomplished Data Scientist.
The programme was designed to cultivate essential qualities of leadership and character in the participating students. Through structured interactive sessions, the participants were guided to overcome stage fright and build confidence in public speaking, to sharpen communication skills through exercises in both verbal and non-verbal expression, and to engage in practical activities aimed at fostering teamwork, discipline, and self-belief.
Beyond the development of outward competencies, the workshop offered students a meaningful engagement with the life and vision of Swami Vivekananda. Particular emphasis was placed on his inspiring interactions with eminent personalities such as Nikola Tesla, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, J. N. Tata, and others — encounters that illuminate the timeless relevance of his ideals for leadership and nation-building.
The workshop left a lasting impression upon the participants, inspiring them to carry forward the values of confidence, character, and purposeful leadership in their personal and academic lives.
