Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Contai organised a one-day Devotees’ Conference (Bhakta Sammelan) on 29 July 2026, on the auspicious occasion of Gurupurnima, at the Abhedananda Sabhagriha of the Ashrama.
The programme commenced with Vedic chanting rendered by the students of the Ashrama’s Chhatrabas, setting a reverential tone for the day’s proceedings. This was followed by guided meditation led by the Adhyaksha of the centre, after which the Sri Ramakrishna Ashtottara Shatanamam was chanted under the leadership of Swami Lokapriyananda. Swami Padmananda led the congregation in Gita chanting, and Kathamrita path was conducted by Swami Ramanathananda.
The Adhyaksha of the centre delivered the welcome address, speaking on the spiritual significance of Gurupurnima and the occasion’s importance for seekers on the path of devotion. The principal addresses of the day were delivered by Swami Devarajananda and Swami Kritarthananda, both of Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math, Howrah, who spoke at length on the significance of Guru Tattwa and the observance of Gurupurnima. Swami Kritarthananda also rendered devotional songs, which were received with great appreciation by the assembled devotees.
The programme further included a lecture session, a question-and-answer session, Japa Yajna, and Shyam Naam Sankirtana led by Swami Dakshananda. The conference concluded on a note of collective joy with chorus bhajans led by Swami Ramanathananda, which evoked enthusiastic participation from all present.
A total of 380 devotees attended the Bhakta Sammelan. All participants were served tiffin, noon prasad, and afternoon refreshments by the Ashrama.
