Following the catastrophic cloudburst and subsequent flooding in Dharali village, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Dehradun, has been actively engaged in both immediate and follow-up phases of relief.
1. Medical Team Support
In response to the request of District Authorities, the Ashrama arranged food and accommodation for doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff deployed in the affected areas:
- Bhatwari (11–23 August 2025): 2 doctors, 1 nurse, and 2 paramedical staff were fully supported with food and accommodation.
- Uttarkashi (6–23 August 2025): 7 doctors, 7 nurses, and 12 paramedical staff were provided with food and accommodation. Lodging arrangements included 18 rooms (6–16 August) and 6 rooms (17–23 August).
- Harsil (6–24 August 2025): 3 doctors, 3 nurses, and 2 paramedical staff were supported with food and accommodation at a local homestay.
2. Distribution of Relief Materials
- Dry Relief: Distribution of dry food items, blankets, and essential materials to affected families.
- Newborn & PNC Kits: 100 kits distributed to mothers evacuated from the disaster site, each containing Johnson & Johnson Baby Kit, small towel, neonate clothing, diapers, Chyawanprash, calcium with vitamin drops, multivitamin drops, baby blanket, and sanitary pads.
3. Supply of General Medicines
To strengthen medical relief operations, essential medicines were supplied, including:
- Tablets: PCM 500 mg (4000), Domperidone (4000), Cetrizine (4000), Norflox-TZ (4000), Ciproflox 500 mg (4000), Deriphyllin (4000), Ecosprin (4000), Telmisartan 20 mg (4000), Omeprazole (4000), Aceclo-Para (4000), Dicyclomine (800).
- Liquids & Syrups: ORS (400), Metrogyl Syrup (400), Anti-Cold Syrup (400), Cephalexin Syrup (400).
- Ointments & Others: Diclofenac Gel (400), Betadine Ointment (160), Gentamycin Eye Drops (800).
4. Assessment and Ongoing Assistance
A team from the Ashrama visited the affected sites and Uttarkashi District Hospital to directly assess needs, coordinate assistance, and provide moral support to traumatised families. Medical and food support continues for patients, including injured Army personnel and civilians.
