COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Services By Ramakrishna Saradashrama, Ponnampet


Ramakrishna Saradashrama, Ponnampet is conducting COVID-19 pandemic relief services since 28 March 2020.

On 7 and 8 May 2020, the ashrama distributed 248 ration Kits to Auto Rickshaw Drivers, Goods Auto Drivers, Taxi Drivers and also Bus Drivers at Kutta. Poor villagers at Sincona(Kutta), the last village in Karnataka, bordering Kerala were given food ration kits. The tribals of this village were given separate Sanitary & Hygiene Kits (To those tribals, whom the Government had given food ration). All were given vegetables (Pumpkins and Cabbages).  The ashrama came to know from the Newspapers that some farmers were not able to sell their produce due to lockdown. The ashrama contacted them and procured the vegetables-mainly Pumpkins, Cabbage at throwaway prices and distributed among the poor and the needy people along with Dry Ration kits etc.,

On 06 May 2020, the ashrama distributed 197 ration Kits to Archakas(Priests of Temples are dire need of daily necessities since temples are closed for public), Barbers(Salons were closed all these days), Photographers(since all marriages and functions are closed that they are without work) and Migrant Labourers at Madikeri.

The Centre served 1040 plates of Cooked food in Kodagu District, Karnataka from 29 March 2020 to 3 April 2020.

The Centre distributed 3407 Kg Dal, 1720 Kg Potato, 1720 Kg Onion, 3407 Kg Salt, 1705 Kg Cooking Oil, 845 Kg Sambhar Powder,1780 Kg Sugar, 1690 Kg Semolina, 1780 Kg Flour, 3757 Pkts Biscuits, 131 Coconuts, 1630 Kg Moong, 1630 Kg  Peanuts and  1155 Kg Rice and 2991 Nos. of Pumpkin among 3540 families of Kodagu District in Karnataka from 29 March 2020 to 5 May 2020.

The Centre distributed 3347 pcs of Soaps and 2997 pkts of Soap Powder in Kodagu District of  Karnataka from 03 April – 04 May 2020. The ashrama distributed Hygiene Kits 177 families containing Colgate Tooth Paste 50 gm, Tooth Brush, Parachute Oil 25 ml, Detergent Powder, Vaseline Jelly,Bath Soap, Detergent Cake, Scrubber 1 no. Each.

Ramakrishna Saradashrama, Ponnampet started COVID-19 pandemic relief services. The Ashrama served 1040 plates cooked food from 29 March to 3 April 2020. The Ashrama distributed food kits consisting of rice, dal, potato, onion, salt, oil, sambhar powder, sugar, rava, atta, and biscuits to 225 families and distributed 256 pcs soap in 111 families in Kodagu district from 03 April to 06 April 2020.
