Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Contai, organized Devotees’ Convention and Youth Convention on the occasion of 191st Birth Anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna, on 20 and 21 February 2026 respectively.

Devotees’ Convention (20 February 2026)

The celebrations commenced with a dedicated Devotees’ Conference, drawing 435 delegates.

  • Inaugural Session: Swami Mayadhishananda, Adhyaksha of the Ashrama, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the spiritual necessity of Bhakta Sammelan (Devotees’ Convention).
  • Thematic Discussions: Swami Ekachittananda (Principal, RKM Residential College, Narendrapur) and Swami Ishteshananda (Headmaster, RKM Vidyalaya, Narendrapur) discussed the profound relevance of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi’s life in the modern era.
  • Interactive Session: The event featured an encouraging question-and-answer session with active participation from the devotees.
  • Cultural Programs: * Afternoon: A soulful Baul Gaan performance by Sri Sunil Kumar Bhakta and Party.
    • Evening: Following Sandhya Arati, the troupe ‘Roop o Rong’ from Kolkata performed the Jatrapala ‘Daitya Samrat Tarakasur’, which was received with great joy.

Youth Convention (21 February 2026)

A special convention was organized for the younger generation, attended by 320 students from various schools and colleges.

  • Guidance and Ideals: Following the welcome address by Swami Mayadhishananda, guest speakers Swami Ekavratananda (Secretary, RKM Belgharia Students’ Home) and Swami Vedanuragananda (Registrar, RKM Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara) guided the youth. They focused on utilizing Swami Vivekananda’s ideals to navigate and solve the day-to-day challenges faced by students.
  • Cultural Programs:
    • Afternoon: The group “Kalpataru” performed Leelagiti, enthralling the audience with melodious devotional music.
    • Evening: The celebrations concluded with an overwhelming performance of the famous Jatrapala ‘Noti Binodini’ by Ganesh Opera, Kamarpukur.
