Incident Overview: On the evening of January 30, 2025, a sudden and devastating fire engulfed 11 huts located near the Hasnabad Railway Station. The affected dwellers, who belong to the most impoverished section of society and survive on daily wages, lost all their worldly belongings in the blaze, leaving them homeless.
Relief Operations: In response to this tragedy, the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Taki, initiated emergency relief work to assist the displaced families. On February 3, 2026, essential survival kits were distributed to each of the 11 victimized families to help them restart their daily lives.
Materials Distributed
The relief package focused on immediate shelter, clothing, and kitchen essentials:
1. Clothing and Bedding:
- Saris (11 pieces)
- Blankets (11 pieces)
- Mosquito Nets (Mosari) (11 pieces)
- Gamchas (11 pieces)
2. Household Utensils: To facilitate cooking and daily hygiene, a comprehensive set of steel and aluminum utensils was provided to each family, including:
- Cooking Vessels: Karai, Hari (with covers), and Saspan.
- Serving Tools: Large and small Hata (ladles), Khunti (spatulas).
- Dining Items: Steel rice plates, drinking glasses, and water jugs.
- Storage: Large and small Gamlas, as well as big and small buckets (Bulti).
3. Shelter and Miscellaneous:
- Tarpaulins (Tirpal): Distributed to all 11 families to provide immediate waterproof roofing.
- Nylon Bags: Provided for the organized storage of their new belongings.
