The southwest monsoon lashed Kerala with incessant torrential rains and has forced the state to release excess water from most of the dams resulting in flooding of all the major rivers, landslides, loss of hundreds of lives, livestock and property. In response to the grim situation, the following centres are conducting primary flood relief services.Â

Coimbatore Mission
In the wake of flooding in various parts of Palakkad district, Coimbatore Mission centre has distributed groceries, blankets, mats, utensils and other essential items among nearly 2000 flood-affected families. The centre is taking steps to reach other flood-affected families. Further reports are awaited.

Kalady
Kalady: Incessant rains and flooding of the Purna (Periyar) river has wreaked havoc in the Ernakulam district. Flood waters had entered our Kalady Ashrama premises and some portions of it were under 3 feet of water. The situation turned further grave owing to lack of electricity and connectivity. The local authorities made the Ashrama’s school a local relief camp and more than 1800 local people were provided food and shelter in it for a few days. The centre provided milk to small children and medical aid to patients at the camp. The centre has so far distributed relief kits containing rice, lentils, oil, salt, spices, tea, sugar, jugs, mugs, bedsheets, towels, blankets, mats, tooth brush, sanitary items, etc. among 2800 affected families in Kaipattoor area. Relief distribution is continuing.

Pala
Pala: In response to the flooding of various parts of the Kottayam district, the Pala centre is conducting flood relief services by distributing cooked food, dry food items and toiletries among numerous flood-affected families residing in the nearby relief camps. Detailed reports are awaited.

Kochi (Cochin)
Kochi : The flood situation in Kochi is relatively under control and the local government authorities are providing food and other necessary items to the flood-affected people. Hence, apart from distributing kits containing essential relief materials to a few families in their nearby areas, we have directed our Kochi centre to assist Kalady centre in their relief services. Accordingly our Kochi centre is supplying essential commodities, presently unavailable in Kalady market due to floods, to it. Detailed reports are awaited.

Koyilandy
Koyilandy: In response to the flooding of various parts of Kannur district, Koyilandy centre has so far distributed 1750 kg rice and 500 kg lentils among 250 flood-affected families in the Aralam gram panchayat and is in the process of distributing garments, towels, bedsheets, drinking water, etc. among other flood-affected families. Kozhikode (Calicut)
Kozhikode: Kozhikode centre has so far distributed rice, lentils, edible oil, milk powder, biscuits etc. among 1000 flood-affected families in Kozhikode district. Further, they are taking steps to provide clothing, sanitary items, etc. Detailed reports are awaited.

Tiruvalla
In response to the flooding of various parts of Pathanamthitta district, Tiruvalla centre has distributed food materials among 300 flood-affected families and is in the process of distributing garments, bedsheets, mats, etc. among thousands of flood-affected persons. Detailed reports are awaited.
Thrissur
Since 16 August, 2018 a relief camp has been opened by the Adat gram-panchayat at the higher secondary school of our Thrissur centre. Besides providing food and shelter to 280 persons in the camp, the centre is in the process of conducting next phase of relief and rehabilitation. Detailed reports are awaited.
Kayamkulum
Kayamkulam : In the aftermath of the flooding of various parts of the Alappuzha district, the Kayamkulam centre is conducting flood relief services by distributing rice, lentils, biscuits, mats, bedsheets, mugs, towels, candles, etc. Further, on account of flooding of our Haripad centre, its monastic member have taken shelter in the Kayamkulam centre. Haripad
Responding to the flooding of various parts of Alappuzha district, Haripad centre is conducting flood relief services by distributing vegetables, firewood, drinking water, mats, etc. Detailed reports are awaited.
Coimbatore Math
Responding to the flooding of various parts of Palakkad district, Coimbatore Math centre has distributed rice, lentils, onion, sugar, salt, coconut oil, tea leaves and spices among 250 flood-affected families.
