Ramakrishna Mission Nivedita Educational & Cultural Centre (RKMNECC), Darjeeling, stood by the victims of the October 4, 2025 deluge and subsequent landslides that severely affected the Kalimpong and Darjeeling Hills, particularly in the Mirik subdivision.
After conducting a thorough survey beginning October 13, 2025, relief distribution commenced on November 5, 2025, in Soureni, Mirik, and Salu areas. A total of 75 families received 2 sets of ration kits and 2 blankets each. Additionally, 50 families were provided with utensil sets, bedding materials, toiletries kits, along with ration kits and blankets. Relief also included 40 school stationery sets distributed to needy students.
As part of rehabilitation assistance, 7 families received 15 corrugated tin sheets each (total 105 sheets) and 14 blankets.
The relief materials included:
- Utensil Kit: Pressure cooker, saucepan, kadhai, hot pots, plates, glasses, spoons, ladle, plastic buckets, and mugs.
- Bedding Kit: Mattresses, pillows, bed sheets, pillow covers, and tarpaulins.
- Ration Kit: Rice, dal, sugar, salt, spices, noodles, semolina, atta, soybean nuggets, cooking oil, tea, and biscuits.
- Toiletries Kit: Soap, toothpaste, hair oil, cream, sanitary napkins, and other essentials.
- School Stationery Kit: Notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpener, ruler, and school bag.
The relief operation was carried out efficiently despite difficult terrain and disrupted connectivity. The villagers expressed deep gratitude for the timely help and the high quality of materials provided.
