National Sports Day 2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm at Ramakrishna Mission, Digboi, over two days from 28th to 29th August 2026, in association with the students and trainers of the centre’s Yoga Training Centre.
On 28th August, a Yoga Competition was organised for youth across four age-group categories. A total of 34 students participated, of whom 22 emerged as prize winners.

On 29th August, an Awareness Session on Sports and Prize Distribution Ceremony was held, commencing at 5:30 PM with the lighting of the lamp and Vedic chanting. The Secretary of the Ashrama delivered an introductory address on the significance of National Sports Day.
The programme was graced by Shri Himangshu Gohain, APS, Digboi, as Chief Guest, and Dr. Binoy Bhattacharjee, General Secretary, United Council of Martial Arts, Yoga & Pole Sports Federation (UCMAYPSF), Assam, and International Yoga Judge, Sribhumi, Assam, as Guest of Honour. Both guests addressed the youth on the benefits of sports and yoga for personal development and nation-building. Prizes and certificates were subsequently awarded to the competition winners.
The event was attended by devotees, volunteers, and well-wishers, with a total gathering of over 100 persons. Refreshments were distributed to all present at the conclusion of the programme.
