The auspicious occasion of the celebration of 155th Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated by Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Allahabad with due solemnly on 12th January, 2018. This grand celebration was started by lighting the holy lamp by the Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Allahabad, Swami Akshayananada along with Chief Guest Dr. S.V. Eswaran, (Emeritus Scientist-CSIR & Emeritus Professor-AcSIR, Regional Centre for Biotechnology NCR Biotech Science Cluster), President of the function Sri B.P. Tripathi (I.P.S.) (Retired I.G.) and Dr. Chandra Prakash Singh (Co-Ordinator, Arundhati Vashishth Research Institute, V.H.P.).
A huge procession along with 800 students of different schools and colleges was started after garlanding to the statue of Swami Vivekananda at Civil Lines, Allahabad by the eminent guests. The procession was decorated by colorful flags, banners, band groups and quotation of Swami Vivekananda was delivered by the students through sound system. The main attraction of the procession was a huge house chariot with big picture of Swami Vivekananda which depicted the celebration of return of Swami Vivekananda from America to India after conquering the World Religion Festival. The rally was about 3 km. touching the eminent places of Allahabad i.e. Civil Lines, Hanumat Niketan, Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad Museum, Allahabad University which take 2 hours to come to closing point at Ram Vatika, Katra.
After the rally the main attraction of the celebration was the presentation by the youth and our honorable guests to the students about the significance of the Life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. The programme of public meeting was started near about 12:30 p.m. upto 2:30 p.m. The august presence of Renowned Scientist Dr. S.V. Eswaran was earnestly solicited by the students of Allahabad and it is the rarest among the rare opportunity for them to talk & listen from a scientist about Swami Vivekananda. Apart from this the other distinguished guests also make the function attractive by their lusid & eloquent speech.
This part of the programme was started by Vedic Chanting by the students of Bhardwaj Ved-Vedang Shiksha Niketan, Allahabad along with lighting the lamp by our eminent guests. The guest was falicitated by the students of different schools and after that respected Swami Akshayananadaji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Allahabad, introduced the guests & delivered the welcome address to the listeners. Then Swadesh Mantra of Swami Vivekananda is recited by Sri Saurabh Mishra, volunteer of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Allahabad. The students of different schools placed their views on Swami Vivekananda which was admired by the guests as well as by the audience. Proceed to this Special Speaker, Sri Raviraj Singh & Dr. Chandra Prakash Singh presented the valuable teachings collected from the glorious life of Swami Vivekananda. The last but obviously not the least, the presentation delivered by Dr. S.V. Esvaran, was the most attractive session of the whole day programme. His unique style of presentation regarding Modern Science and the values of Swami Vivekananda under modern circumstances, creates so much joy among the students and perhaps it will be a memorable day of those students present there. The programme was concluded by the presidential address by Sri B.P. Tripathi followed by the group song on Swami Vivekananda by students of two schools. Thus the grand celebration was come to the end and closing song was presented by Ms. Anjali Kesharwani and party. Whole programme was conducted by Dr. Ramchandra Sharma (B.D.O.) & vote of thanks was given by Swami Karunananda. The booklets on Swamiji’s teachings and refreshments were distributed among all the listeners which was more than 1000 in number.
