National Youth Day 2024 : Rourkela


Ramakrishna Mission, Rourkela, enthusiastically observed National Youth Day 2024 on Friday, January 12th, reaching out to hundreds of students across three events in the city.

Event 1: Inspiring Discussions at Ashram Premises

  • Venue: Ramakrishna Mission, Rourkela
  • Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Participants: Around 100 students from local schools and faculties

The day began with a vibrant convention at the Ashram premises, where nearly 100 students from Gopabandhu High School, Hamirpur, Kalyani College, and Dipika Ispat Sikhya Sadan engaged in thought-provoking discussions about Swami Vivekananda’s vision and its relevance for young minds today. The Chief Guest of the programme was Shri Subham Chakraborty, Sub Divisional Engineer, Central Water Commission, Rourkela.

The Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Rourkela, Swami Buddhadevananda, set the tone by delivering a welcome speech highlighting the importance of National Youth Day. He underscored the role of youth in shaping a better future and emphasized the valuable lessons we can learn from Swami Vivekananda’s life and teachings.

Renowned speakers like Shri Ranjan Kumar Samal, Smt Sarita Mall, Shri H.S. Mishra, Smt Monalisha Gauda, Shri Bharat Bhusan Mohanty further enriched the session with their insights. They shared captivating stories and anecdotes from Swamiji’s life, shedding light on his unwavering commitment to social reform and his powerful message of self-reliance and national awakening.

The program also featured a beautiful welcome song by Sushree Priya Mishra, a devotional melody by Sonali Aran and Srutismita Pattanaik, and a powerful recitation of the Swadesh Mantra by Ria Mahalik. These artistic expressions added a touch of inspiration to the event.

Following the stimulating discussions, participants enjoyed a delicious tiffin at the Ashram, fostering a sense of community and fellowship.

Event 2: Reaching Out to City English School

  • Venue: City English School, Station Road, Rourkela
  • Time: 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
  • Participants: Approximately 350 students

Swami Buddhadevananda further spread the message of National Youth Day by visiting City English School. He engaged in an interactive session with the students, sharing captivating stories and insights from Swami Vivekananda’s life. Shri Debajyoti Roy, Vice Principal of the school, also joined the dialogue, emphasizing the importance of Swamiji’s ideals in shaping responsible and engaged citizens.

This event provided a platform for students to explore the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings in their own lives and learn valuable lessons about leadership, character building, and contributing to society.

Event 3: Bringing Inspiration to Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir

  • Venue: Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Jagda, Rourkela-42
  • Time: 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
  • Participants: Around 450 students

In a parallel session, Swami Shivajnanananda, Assistant Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Rourkela, reached out to students at Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir. He led an engaging interaction, encouraging students to embrace Swamiji’s principles of education, self-discipline, and service to others.

The school’s dignitaries and students also actively participated in the session, sharing their reflections on Swamiji’s life and teachings. This cross-generational dialogue fostered a sense of understanding and appreciation for Swami Vivekananda’s timeless message.
