National Youth Day 2026 : Chandigarh

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chandigarh, observed National Youth Day on 12 January 2026 with an enthusiastic participation of students despite the cold weather. A total of 180 students from NCC, NSS, and the Ashrama’s Vivek Vichar Manch programme took part by delivering speeches and reciting poems on the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.

Shri H. Rajesh Prasad (IAS, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and Major (Dr.) Neelam Kumari, Assistant Professor and NCC In-charge, GHSC Sector 11, Chandigarh, was present as Guest of Honour.

The programme began with Deep Prajwalan, garlanding of Swamiji’s statue, Vedic chanting, an opening song, and the introductory address by Swami Bhitiharananda, followed by the speeches of the guest speakers.

The Vivek Vichar Manch programme for young students concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates. Students who assisted in conducting the event were given specially designed Swamiji’s laminations and literature, while all students received books on Swami Vivekananda.

A documentary film on Swami Vivekananda, produced by the Vivekananda Youth Forum, Mumbai, was screened during the programme.

In total, around 250 participants, including youths, teachers, devotees, and volunteers, attended the celebration. All attendees were served lunch prasad at the end of the programme.
