Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Visakhapatnam, observed the 42nd National Youth Day through a series of impactful events aimed at propagating the life-giving messages of Swami Vivekananda.
1. Vivekananda Shobha Yatra (7 January 2026) Due to the Pongal vacation schedule, the Vivekananda Shobha Yatra was held in advance on 7 January. The grand procession saw the enthusiastic participation of approximately 3,500 students from various educational institutions across Visakhapatnam. Carrying banners and placards featuring Swamiji’s teachings, the students created an atmosphere of patriotism and social awareness throughout the city. To foster spiritual growth, inspirational books authored by Swami Vivekananda were distributed to all participants, along with food packets.
2. Commemoration at Visakhapatnam Railway Station (12 January 2026) On the morning of 12 January, a solemn tribute was paid at the Visakhapatnam Railway Station (Platform No. 1). Railway authorities offered Pushpanjali to a beautifully decorated photograph of Swami Vivekananda. In a gesture of public outreach, the Mission distributed chocolates and literature to commuters, sharing Swamiji’s message with the traveling public.
3. 42nd National Youth Day & Annual Day at RKM High School (12 January 2026) The main celebration was held at Vivekananda Hall, coordinated with the RKM High School Annual Day. The event was graced by Sri Shankhabrata Bagchi, IPS (DGP and Police Commissioner of Visakhapatnam), as the Chief Guest. Addressing an audience of students, parents, and teachers on the theme “Swami Vivekananda – Need of the Age,” the dignitaries urged the youth to internalize Swamiji’s discipline and strength. The day concluded with vibrant cultural performances by the students, illustrating the timeless ideals of the Holy Trio.
