Ramakrishna Sharadashrama, Ponnampet held a 3-day celebration to mark the Platinum Jubilee of its medical unit Sri Ramakrishna Sevashrama Hospital. The programmes were conducted from 23 May to 25 May 2018. As a part of the celebrations, the hospital opened a new building for Naturopathy wing called Vivekananda Arogya Dhama, conducted a Public Meeting, organised a Multi-speciality Free Medical Camp, and a Medical Seminar.
The celebrations were specially blessed with the presence of Revered Srimat Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, one of the Vice Presidents of the Order. Swami Bodhasarananda ji, one of the Assistant General Secretaries of the Order, monks from Bengaluru, Lucknow, Mumbai, Jammu, Mysuru, Thiruvananthapuram, Natrampally, Chennai, and other centres, and devotees from Ponnampet and other nearby cities participated in the funcitons.
On 23 May 2018, Srimat Swami Suhitananda ji Maharaj inaugurated the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in a programme held in the evening at the Shambavananda Auditorium in the Math premises. On the stage there were representative of Mysore Medical College, Mysuru, Swamis Atmavidananad from Vishakapatnam, Mokshavratananda from Thiruvananthapuram, Nirantarananda from Jammu, Satyadevananda from Mumbai, Jitakamananda from Mangalore, and Sri Shanta Mallikarjuna Swamiji from Kalancheri Math, Arameri, Virajapet. Dr. C.G Kushalappa, Dean, College of Forestry, Ponnampet, on behalf of the citizens of Ponnampet read out the Binna Vathale (Letter of Honour welcoming Swami Suhitananda ji) and the Advisory Committee members of the Ponnampet Math greeted Swami Suhitananda ji with the traditional Coorg turban, Coorg-sword and shawl. In his Inaugural talk Revered Swami Suhitananda ji Maharaj lauded the uninterrupted medical service rendered by the Sevashrama. The senior swamis too expressed their happiness at the unbroken 75 years of medical service rendered by the Math and prayed for its growth. Swami Bhuvanatmananda presented the vote of thanks. In the evening, after Arati, Sri Dattatreya Velankar from Bangalore performed Harikatha on Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, at the auditorium.
A special puja and homa were performed at the newly constructed Naturopathy Hospital on 23rd evening and 24th morning. On 24 May 2018, Special Puja to Sri Ramakrishna was performed followed by Homa. Traditional Homa was also performed befitting the Opening of New Building. Around 10.00 am, Revered Swami Suhitananda ji Maharaj formally opened the New Building amidst vedic chanting by monks followed by simple Arati to Swami Vivekananda. Swami Bodhasarananda ji, formally opened the first-floor, the ‘Kokkengada Monnappa and Parvathy Block’. All the swamis and the assembled dignitaries went through the new building.
At 11.00 am in the auditorium, within the premises of the Ashrama, a public meeting was held. Swami Bodhasarananda ji gave key note address. Revered Swami Jagadatmanandaji’s speech was read by Swami Raghaveshananda. Swamis Muktinathananda and Raghaveshananda addressed the gathering. Sri K.M.Karumbaiah, who donated Rs. 46 lakhs, spoke on behalf of the donors. Sri K.M. Karumbaiah and Smt. Pramila Karumbaiah, other donors, Engineers and other workers were duly honoured on the stage. Revered Swami Suhitananda ji Maharaj gave his Benedictory address. All the assembled devotees and well-wishers were sumptuously fed. About 43 monks and brahmacharins participated in the Sadhu Bhandara held on the occasion.
The next day, on 25 May 2018, at 9.00 am, Swami Bodhasarananda ji inaugurated the Multi-Speciality Camp specially organized for this occasion. M/s. Narayana Hridayalaya (Mysore), M/s. JSS Medical College & Hospital (Bangalore), Shekar Eye Hospital (Bangalore), Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences (Virajpet) specially came to this camp, besides other specialist doctors from Coorg, Mysore and Bangalore Districts.
At 11.00 am, Swami Mukthinathananda ji inaugurated the Seminar specially organized on the occasion wherein students from various colleges and general public attended. All the participants were provided lunch-prasad.
