Skill Development Training for Defence Personnel: Ranchi, April 2026

On April 24, 2026, a 60-day agricultural-based skill development training program concluded at the Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi. Organized in collaboration with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (Ministry of Defence), the program was designed to empower 42 retiring personnel from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force with sustainable livelihood skills for their post-retirement lives.


Training Structure and Curriculum

The comprehensive 60-day program, which commenced on February 23, was delivered in three distinct 20-day phases:

  • Phase I: Beekeeping (20 Days) – Focused on apiary management and honey production.
  • Phase II: Mushroom Production (20 Days) – Led by Subject Coordinator Dr. Rajesh Kumar, focusing on cultivation techniques and commercialization.
  • Phase III: Natural Farming (20 Days) – Led by Subject Coordinator Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, emphasizing sustainable and organic agricultural practices.

Beyond technical expertise, the curriculum integrated holistic development, including sessions on business commercialization, human values, Yoga, and spirituality.


Key Highlights from the Ceremony

The valedictory session was inaugurated with Vedic chanting and the traditional lighting of the lamp by a distinguished panel of guests:

  • Chief Guest: Smt. Tadasha Mishra (DGP, Govt. of Jharkhand).
  • Special Guest: Brigadier Niranjan Kumar (Retd., Director, Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Govt. of Jharkhand).
  • Chairperson: Swami Bhaveshanand (Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Ranchi).

Notable Addresses:

  • Self-Reliance: Dr. Ajit Kumar Singh encouraged participants to use their new technical skills to become self-reliant (Swavalambi).
  • Entrepreneurship: Brigadier Niranjan Kumar motivated the soldiers to form collective business models and startups, providing detailed information on various welfare schemes and registration processes.
  • Social Impact: Smt. Tadasha Mishra lauded the Ashrama’s selfless service and urged the participants to become agents of social welfare through agriculture.
  • Spiritual Guidance: Swami Bhaveshanand invoked Swami Vivekananda’s motto “Be and Make,” urging the veterans to become role models for the youth in their villages. Swami Antaranand further emphasized the mission’s core philosophy: “Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya Cha” (For one’s own salvation and for the welfare of the world).

Conclusion

The program concluded with participants sharing their personal experiences and the distribution of completion certificates. The initiative successfully bridged the transition from military service to civilian entrepreneurship, aiming to establish these veterans as leaders of rural development in their respective regions.
