A Youth Convention was organised by Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Contai on 11 September 2026 at the Abhedananda Sabhagriha of the Ashrama, to commemorate the 133rd Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago Address.
More than 430 students and teachers from 15 different schools of Contai town, along with 35 youth members of Purba Medinipur Yuva Parishad, participated in the programme.
The proceedings commenced with Vedic chanting, followed by a welcome address, recitation of Swadesh Mantra, guided meditation, songs on Swamiji, patriotic songs, and group songs by the participants. A question-and-answer session was also held. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
Swami Mayadhishananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Contai, presided over the function. Swami Divyagunananda, Principal, RKM PTTI College, Rahara, attended as Chief Guest. Swami Atmanathananda, Ramakrishna Mission Calcutta Students’ Home, Belgharia, also addressed the gathering. All three spoke on the significance and continuing relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago Address and its impact on Indian society.
All participants were provided with a tiffin packet and a booklet on Swami Vivekananda.
