Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani marked the auspicious day of Mahalaya on September 21, 2025, with a significant ‘Anna-Vastra-Swastha’ (Food, Clothing, and Health) relief initiative aimed at assisting economically disadvantaged mothers. The day of devotion and service began with an offering of puja to Sri Sri Hanseswari Maa at Bansberia, Hooghly.
The Ashrama observed its regular Dwipakshik Matri Puja on a larger scale as part of the celebration. A total of 250 mothers participated in this special ritual, where they were welcomed with Vedic chanting, sandal tilak, and garlands. Following the welcoming, the mothers were offered various Puja items, including essential rations like rice, dal, potato, soybean, puffed rice, and cakes. Each of the 250 participating mothers also received a new sari and a packet of cooked meals.
Expanding the relief effort, new saris and cooked meals were also distributed to an additional 600 underprivileged mothers at the Ashrama. These recipients had been previously identified through a comprehensive survey, ensuring that the aid reached those most in need. Furthermore, in observance of Subha Sharodiya (the approaching Durga Puja festival), 25 girls from economically disadvantaged sections of society were also provided with clothing and food.
