Activities 2024-25 : New Developments


Ramakrishna Math

Important developments in the activities of the Ramakrishna Math are given below under the following headings: (i) Educational Field, (ii) Medical Field, and (iii) Other Developments.


(i) Educational Field

  1. Bolpur centre constructed a computer room and a library.
  2. Chandipur Math:
    • Built a farmers’ hostel cum guest house.
    • Started vocational training in Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, etc.
  3. Chengam centre started a STEM lab at the school.
  4. Chennai Math purchased 29 computers for its computer training centre.
  5. Dakshineshwar centre started a computer centre.
  6. Nattarampalli centre installed an AI interactive smart board at the school.
  7. Pala centre started vocational training for girls.
  8. Purnea centre started vocational training in tailoring for girls.
  9. Ramanathapuram centre started a STEM lab at its school.
  10. Thiruvananthapuram centre added a third floor to its College of Nursing.

(ii) Medical Field

  1. Balaram Mandir, Kolkata started a dispensary.
  2. Baranagar Math, Kolkata added an Applanation Tonometer to its dispensary.
  3. Chandipur Math started a mobile dispensary unit.
  4. Chennai Math:
    • Added medical equipment: Two Mirror Gonioscope Lense-Ellis for corneal thickness, AAIO Wireless Indirect Ophthalmoscope for Diabetic/Retina, and Mindray BS – 600 M Chemistry Analyser for biochemistry tests.
    • Renovated the dental unit and installed dental chairs.
    • Renovated the pharmacy unit and installed retail software for billing.
  5. Hyderabad centre renovated and extended its dispensary building.
  6. Kathamrita Bhawan, Kolkata added medical equipment: ECG Machine, Patient Examination Table, Pressure Machine, X-Ray Plate Viewer Box, Stethoscope, etc.
  7. Mayavati Advaita Ashrama added medical equipment: SANVL3 Video Laryngoscope, Anaesthesia Workstation, Shalya Sigma +V High End Electrosurgical Unit & Portable Suction Machine.
  8. Ponnampet centre:
    • Constructed a building to house the pharmacy, pathology lab, dental clinic, and a bookstore.
    • Added medical equipment: Centrifuge machine, Cloth Drier, Automatic Biochemistry machine, dental chair with Dental X-ray, 125 KVA diesel generator, and an anaesthesia machine.
  9. Rajkot centre added medical equipment: NCT, Tonometer, Phaco Machine, Portable Endoscopy unit, IFT Ultrasound machine, and shock wave therapy machine.
  10. Shyamla Tal centre:
    • Added medical equipment: Blood Cell Counter, Urine Analyser, Compressor, Micro Motor, patient beds.
    • Purchased four 25-seater buses for patient transportation from remote areas.
  11. Thiruvananthapuram centre:
    • Added medical equipment: Ultima Prime D1 BPET CO₂ Monitor, Slit Lamp, Automated Perimeter, Non-contact Tonometer, Anaesthesia machine, Adonis 500 MA X-ray machine, Ophthalmic Green Lazor, OT table, BPL Vivid Vue Multipara Patient Monitor, CR Reader, Valleylab FT10 Electro surgical hardware, and Digital portable X-ray.
    • Installed a 150-KVA Solar Grid Power Unit at its hospital building.

(iii) Other Developments

  1. Ahmedabad centre started functioning from its new campus at Lekhamba, Sanand Taluka, Ahmedabad, which has a prayer hall, monks’ quarters, and a dining hall.
  2. Almora centre:
    • Renovated its kitchen, dining hall, and office building.
    • Renovated Turiyananda Taposthali, the Sadhan Kutir of two monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna.
    • Installed a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the sacred Kakrighat.
    • Built Vivekananda Dwar at Karbala Junction, situated 2.5 km from the ashrama.
  3. Amarkantak centre erected a boundary wall around its campus.
  4. Baranagar Math, Kolkata installed new photos of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda in its renovated shrine.
  5. Belur Math (Central Math):
    • The erstwhile Headquarters building at Belur Math, situated opposite Sri Ramakrishna Temple, was named Swami Subodhananda Memorial.
    • Constructed an underground car parking adjacent to the Old Math campus.
  6. Chennai Math added a digital vending machine for books.
  7. Dakshineshwar centre renovated a building to host retreats.
  8. Hyderabad centre installed a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the Institute of Human Excellence.
  9. Kalady centre renovated its guest house.
  10. Mayavati Advaita Ashrama constructed a staff quarters building.
  11. Rajkot centre built an office block and a meditation hall.
  12. Sikra Kulingram centre:
    • Renovated its Sri Ramakrishna temple.
    • Renovated the monks’ quarters.
    • Built a kitchen-cum-dining hall.
  13. Thiruvalla centre built a kitchen-cum-dining hall and a conference hall.
  14. Thrissur centre constructed a monks’ quarters building.

Ramakrishna Mission

Important developments in the activities of the Ramakrishna Mission are given below under the following headings: (i) Educational Field, (ii) Medical Field, (iii) Rural Development Field, and (iv) Other Developments.


(i) Educational Field

  1. Chennai Students’ Home introduced an AI lab at its Polytechnic College.
  2. Chennai Vidyapith upgraded its science lab with various scientific instruments, installed new ICT facilities in its computer lab and installed solar power generators for the entire college campus.
  3. Coimbatore Mission started a CBSE school.
  4. Dehradun centre started a computer centre.
  5. Dibrugarh centre started a coaching centre.
  6. Gurugram centre started a school of languages with courses in English, German and French languages.
  7. Hatamuniguda centre set up:
    • A composite lab for the secondary section of the school.
    • A Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) lab.
  8. Imphal centre opened a science museum at the school.
  9. Jayrambati Mission centre:
    • Built a prayer hall at the boys’ high school building.
    • Started a STEM lab at the school.
  10. Jhargram centre started a coaching centre and a unit of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP) at its sub-centre in Srirampur.
  11. Kalyani centre started a tailoring training centre for girls.
  12. Kamarpukur Mission centre:
  • Constructed:
    1. A third floor on its high school building.
    2. A building for the Junior Basic School Unit-I.
    3. A dining hall cum kitchen for the PM POSHAN scheme (Mid-Day meal scheme).
  • Started science, computer, and mathematics labs at its multipurpose school.
  1. Khetri centre constructed a two-storey extension to its primary school building, situated a km away from its main campus.
  2. Kozhikode centre:
  • Started a computer lab in the lower primary section of the higher secondary school.
  • Installed a 20×25-foot wall painting in the school, using acrylic medium, depicting the events in the life of Swami Vivekananda.
  1. Krishnanagar centre started a Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP) unit.
  2. Malda centre:
  • Started a unit of Vivekananda Abhyudaya Prakalpa (VAP) at a nearby village.
  • Installed digital boards and CCTV cameras in the school.
  1. Malliankaranai centre installed a solar system in the higher secondary school.
  2. Manasadwip centre:
  • Upgraded the secondary school to a higher secondary school.
  • Constructed a building for the higher secondary section.
  1. Narendrapur centre opened an archive for the records, documents and materials related to the history of its higher secondary school.
  2. Prayagraj Mission centre renovated the study room of its public library and installed AC and Wi-Fi internet facilities.
  3. Puri Mission started a computer training centre.
  4. Rahara centre:
  • Started a certificate course on amateur radio for undergraduates.
  • Started a coaching centre.
  1. Ramharipur centre upgraded its high school to a higher secondary school.
  2. Ranchi Morabadi centre:
  • Constructed a G + 3 building for training tribal youths.
  • Added the following equipment to its Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra: Atomic Absorption Spectro Photometer, Double Beam Spectro Photometer, Millet Processing and Demonstration Unit (IIMR Project), On-Grid Solar Energy System (93.96kwp), Honey Testing Laboratory with equipment like AAS, HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) System, and Double Beam UV-VIS Spectrophotometer.
  1. Sargachhi centre built a classroom for its Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
  2. Sarisha centre started Spoken English classes at its vocational training centre.
  3. Sohra (Cherrapunjee) centre upgraded two of its secondary schools into higher secondary schools.
  4. Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) centre started a students’ home.
  5. Tirupati centre started a Centre for Human Excellence.
  6. Villupuram centre constructed a multipurpose hall on its higher secondary school campus.

(ii) Medical Field

  1. Asansol centre: Constructed a three-storey extension to its dispensary building, installed an Audiometry machine there, and added patients’ beds and waiting chairs.
  2. Bankura centre installed an OCT machine at its dispensary.
  3. Bhopal centre added a Longwave Diathermy equipment and a few Laser Therapy machines to its dispensary.
  4. Darjeeling centre set up a dental check-up unit.
  5. Dehradun centre constructed a new OPD building at its hospital.
  6. Dibrugarh centre started a medical mobile unit.
  7. Guwahati centre: Renovated the dispensary building at its Chatribari campus and added the following medical equipment: Ultrasonography Machine, Fully Automated Bio-Chemistry Analyzer, Microwave Diathermy, Short Wave Diathermy, CMP for Upper and Lower Limb, Dental Chair, Electrolyte Analyzer, Centrifuge Machine, Incubator, CR Printer, BTL Laser Therapy, Hydrocollator and Eye Chair.
  8. Itanagar centre:
    • Added medical equipment: Ventilator, HFNC, Anaesthesia Workstation, Patient Monitor, Portable Ultrasound Machine, Portable X-Ray Machine, Microdebrider, OAE, Autoclave, Auto Perimeter, 4k Laparoscopic set.
    • Installed an oxygen plant.
  9. Jammu centre added a wide range of medical equipment including Lab Machine CBC H-360, Physiotherapy Ultrasonic, Oxygen Concentrator, Laser Machine, X-ray Machine, Eyevis Auto Refractometer, and many more.
  10. Kalyani centre:
    • Started a mobile medical unit.
    • Added two more floors to its dispensary building.
  11. Kamarpukur centre added various medical equipment including Eye auto keratometer, Dental OPG (X-ray), Autoclave Machine, OT table, Flash Autoclave, Multi Parameter monitor, Modular OT machine, etc.
  12. Kankhal Sevashrama:
    • Renovated and shifted NICU to the main hospital block.
    • Added medical equipment: Video Laryngoscope, BPL syringe pumps, Radiant heat warmers, Phototherapy machines, Bilirubin monitor, Zeal Medical Bubble CPAP, Sonosite Edge II portable Ultrasound Machine, etc.
    • Installed a 250kw solar plant.
    • Purchased an ambulance.
  13. Lucknow Sevashrama set up a Heart Lung Ward and an IVF lab.
  14. Mumbai centre added ventilators, Draeger anaesthesia machine, C-Arm, Laparoscopic instruments, Dialysis RO system, and other equipment.
  15. Muzaffarpur centre added ophthalmic and surgical equipment.
  16. Narainpur centre constructed a building for the paediatric ward and a medical room for sportsmen.
  17. New Delhi centre added extensive equipment for TB clinic and medical centre.
  18. Patna centre included a Traction Machine & Traction Belt.
  19. Raiganj centre started a mobile medical unit.
  20. Ranchi TB Sanatorium centre added C-Arm, Portable X-ray, Dental OPG, Neonatal Ventilator, and other equipment.
  21. Sargachhi centre added an Auto Refractometer and Slit Lamp.
  22. Seva Pratishthan hospital, Kolkata:
    • Added equipment including Alan In-Sight HD Laparoscopy, BPL Advanced Anaesthesia Workstation, WEM Electrosurgical Generator, OCT machine, and more.
    • Installed a Digital Display System.
  23. Silchar centre constructed a building for the dispensary.
  24. Sohra (Cherrapunjee) centre:
    • Upgraded dispensary to a hospital.
    • Added medical equipment: Microscope, OT beds, A-Scan, B-Scan, I-care Tonometer, Autorefractometer, Ophthalmoscope.
  25. Thirumukkudal centre started a medical unit.
  26. Tirupati centre started an Ayurvedic clinic.
  27. Varanasi Home of Service centre:
    • Added haemodialysis, phaco machine, auto refractor, dental implant equipment, RO machines, air-conditioning, fire security system.
    • Purchased a vehicle for mobile medical unit.
  28. Viveknagar centre, Agartala set up a physiotherapy unit.
  29. Vrindavan centre:
    • Added second and third floors to extend hospital by 100 beds.
    • Built registration hall for OPD.
    • Added equipment: Ultra Sound Machine, Defibrillator, Dialysis Machines, Ventilator, ECG, RO Plant, and more.

(iii) Rural Development Field

  1. Mumbai Mission centre:
    • Dug a well and installed a solar-based drinking water system at a village in Vikramgad taluka, Palghar district.
    • Started a tailoring training institute for women at a village in Alibag taluka, Raigad district.
  2. Narainpur centre:
    • Constructed a staff quarters building on Kundla campus and a hostel on Kutul campus.
    • Started a new service centre at Orchha village.
    • Installed three hand pumps at Mandali, Kodoli, and Dulurpara areas in Orchha village.
  3. Varanasi Home of Service installed two fully off-grid solar backup systems in Hinauta village (Sonbhadra) and Naugawan village (Mirzapur).

(iv) Other Developments

  1. Aalo centre:
    • Installed statues of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda in three mandapams.
    • Built an auditorium cum indoor stadium.
    • Constructed an office building and monks’ quarters.
  2. Dhaleswar centre, Agartala constructed an auditorium.
  3. Gurap centre built an extension to its office block.
  4. Gurugram centre started a retreat centre in Jaulangi, 80 km off Rishikesh towards Uttarkashi.
  5. Guwahati centre built a prayer hall and guest house on Chatribari campus.
  6. Jayrambati centre constructed a showroom for books and Pallimangal products.
  7. Jhargram centre:
    • Built a guest house on the main campus.
    • Constructed a toilet block, kitchen, two temporary sheds, and dining hall at Srirampur sub-centre.
  8. Kailashahar centre constructed an office cum sales counter building.
  9. Kharupetia centre built a dining hall.
  10. Kalyani centre constructed first and second floors of monks’ quarters.
  11. Lumdung centre built a kitchen cum dining hall.
  12. Manasadwip centre built a kitchen block.
  13. Muzaffarpur centre:
  • Built a stage for cultural programmes.
  • Constructed a welcome gate in front of the temple.
  1. Nabadwip centre renovated the natmandira of its Sri Ramakrishna temple.
  2. Narottam Nagar centre constructed a staff quarters building.
  3. Patna centre built a welcome gate.
  4. Purulia centre:
  • Built a conference room.
  • Extended the museum building.
  1. Rourkela centre installed a solar power system.
  2. Sargachhi centre renovated the room of Swami Akhandananda and installed his statue.
  3. Silchar centre constructed a new temple for Sri Ramakrishna and an auditorium.
  4. Somsar centre built a kitchen-cum-dining hall and a book showroom.
  5. Swamiji’s Ancestral House released a 3D film on the life of Swami Vivekananda.
  6. Srinagar centre installed a marble statue of Sri Ramakrishna in the renovated temple.
  7. Varanasi Home of Service installed an off-grid solar system and constructed a staff quarters building.
  8. Vrindavan Mission centre:
  • Constructed a new mandapam to house the statue of Swami Vivekananda.
  • Added another floor to its guest house.
