The Annual Festival 2026 of Ramakrishna Mission, Balurghat was celebrated on 29 and 30 June 2026 with devotion and spiritual fervour.
Day One — 29 June 2026
Morning Programme
The programme commenced in the early morning with Mangalarati, chanting of hymns, and Usha Kirtan. Sri Sri Thakur Puja was performed, followed by Pushpanjali and devotional bhajans. A reading from Sri Sri Ramakrishna Lila Prasanga, along with its explanation, was conducted by Swami Shastrajnanandaji Maharaj.
The Homa was jointly performed by Swami Shastrajnanandaji Maharaj, Trustee, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, and Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur, Kolkata, and Swami Tattwasaranandaji Maharaj, Trustee, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, and Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Gol Park, Kolkata. Bhogarati followed thereafter.
Service Activity
In the afternoon, 150 sarees were distributed among poor and needy women on the Mission premises.
Evening Programme
The evening programme was dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna. It commenced with Vedic chanting by Brahmachari Chayan and the resident students. The welcome address was delivered by Swami Satyadharmananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Balurghat. Swami Shastrajnanandaji Maharaj and Swami Tattwasaranandaji Maharaj delivered spiritual discourses. The vote of thanks was proposed by Sri Prosanna Barman. Devotional songs were rendered by Swami Divyavratanandaji, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati.
More than 3,000 devotees partook of prasad.
Day Two — 30 June 2026
Youth Convention
A Youth Convention was held at 11.00 a.m. The programme commenced with Vedic chanting by Brahmachari Chayan and the resident students. The Swadesh Mantra of Swami Vivekananda was recited by a resident student, followed by an opening song by a youth delegate. The welcome address was delivered by Swami Satyadharmananda.
Seven youth delegates from disciplines including medicine, postgraduate studies, law, English, and research shared their reflections on the life and ideals of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Tattwasaranandaji Maharaj and Sri Suvendu Mukherjee, Retired Headmaster, Raiganj Coronation High School, delivered addresses on the relevance of Swamiji’s message. More than 500 students from various schools and colleges attended. Prasad was served to all participants.
Cultural Competitions and Prize Distribution
Cultural competitions were organised in Drawing, Recitation, Music, Quiz, Essay Writing, Storytelling, and Message Writing. The prize distribution ceremony was held in the afternoon and was graced by Swami Tattwasaranandaji Maharaj; Swami Divyavratanandaji, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati; Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Education and for Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India; Sri Bidyut Kumar Roy, MLA, Balurghat Assembly Constituency; Sri Manas Basu, District Judge, Dakshin Dinajpur; and Sri Suvendu Mukherjee. Dr. Sukanta Majumdar addressed the students, following which prizes were distributed to the winners.
Concluding Session
The concluding session, dedicated to Holy Mother Sri Sri Sarada Devi, commenced at 6.00 p.m. Swami Tattwasaranandaji Maharaj delivered a discourse on “Shiver Shakti, Jiber Janani.” Sri Suvendu Mukherjee spoke on “Sri Ramakrishna Sangha Sthapane Sri Sri Mayer Bhumika.” The vote of thanks was delivered by Swami Satyadharmananda. Devotional songs by Swami Divyavratanandaji concluded the evening. Dr. Debasis Nandi formally announced the conclusion of the two-day programme.
