A month-long buttermilk distribution programme was conducted by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chennai, commencing on 1st May 2026 to mark the Foundation Day of Ramakrishna Mission, established on 1st May 1897 by Swami Vivekananda.
The distribution was carried out daily at a fixed point from 1st May to 31st May 2026, during which buttermilk was served to wayfarers and members of the public. Over the course of the month, approximately 24,048 litres of buttermilk were distributed, benefiting around 75,150 persons.
The initiative was undertaken in the spirit of service that has characterised the Foundation Day observance since its inception, providing relief to travellers and the general public during the summer season.
