The Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Smriti Mandir, Khetri, launched a comprehensive eye screening initiative in local schools aimed at identifying students with refractive error and providing free eyeglasses.
A specialized team of four ophthalmologists and optometrists from Sahai Hospital, Jaipur, led the initiative. The first screening camp was inaugurated by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Khetri, alongside Block education and medical officers, at Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School in Khetri on August 21, 2025.
Over a 22-day period, screenings were conducted across various schools in the Khetri block, culminating in the project’s successful completion on September 20, 2025. In total, 9,570 students from 52 schools were examined. As a result, 945 spectacles were distributed free of charge to students diagnosed with refractive error, and an additional 99 students were referred to the eye hospital for specialized treatment.
The entire program was generously sponsored by the Blind Foundation for India, USA.
