National Sports Day is celebrated annually on 29 August to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, one of India’s greatest sporting legends. To mark the occasion, the Ramakrishna Mission Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House and Cultural Centre, Kolkata, organised a Cycle Rally in association with Bangiya Cycle Samaj on the morning of 30 August 2026.
The rally was held from 7:00 am to 8:30 am. A number of youths and members of the Kolkata Ramakrishna Vivekananda Bhava Prachar Parishad enthusiastically participated in the programme. The rally aimed to promote physical fitness, healthy living, discipline, and awareness of cycling as an environmentally friendly means of transport.
The participants completed the rally in a spirit of enthusiasm and camaraderie. After the rally, tiffin was served to all the participants at the venue.
The programme was successfully conducted and served as a meaningful observance of National Sports Day, encouraging the youth to embrace physical activity and cultivate a healthy and active lifestyle.
