On the night of October 11, 2025, a tragic fire accident occurred at Viveknagar, a village adjacent to Deomali. The newly constructed house of Shri Phobon Songthing, along with his old Chang-ghar (traditional house), was completely engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no human injury or casualty was reported, though all belongings were lost in the incident.
As a primary relief measure, Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar, extended timely assistance to the affected family on October 12, 2025. They provided essential items including ration items such as rice, lentils, oil, sugar, biscuits, potatoes, and onions, along with cooking utensils, blankets, mosquito nets, and tarpaulin sheets.
