Flood Relief at Wayanad


On 31 August 2019, a team of volunteers from Kalady Sri Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama led by some of the Monastics left for Wayanad with a sizable quantity of relief materials where the floods have devastated the life of the people and altered the very landscape with massive landslides.

Relief kits containing rice, sugar, dal, soaps, Dettol, lungi, nighty, shirt, bed cover, mattress, plastic mug, jug, bucket and biscuits & chocolates for children were carried in two trucks.

On the morning of 1 September, in Kalppeta, the team was divided into two groups for the ease of distributing the materials. Braving the incessant rains in the hilly and tough terrains of Kottathara, Pallikunnu, Chittoor, Mudiyoorkuni, Kalpetta, Nedungandam Paniyar Colony, Maniyankodu Colony, Manathavadi Colony, the upper and lower Palvelicham Colony,  Sarighat Colony, Kammana Colony, a large number of people, 99% of whom are Adivasis gathered to collect the much needed relief materials. 524 families received the kits.
