Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri organized a Free Eye Check-up and Cataract Surgery Camp on Saturday, 7th February 2026 in collaboration with Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital. The camp aimed at providing quality eye care to poor and needy people.
A five-member medical team from the hospital—including doctors and paramedical staff—conducted the examinations. A total of 200 OPD patients were checked.
Types of Examinations Conducted
- Extraocular movements / alignment / tension tests: 46 patients
- Slit-lamp examinations: 16 patients
- Pupillary tests: 11 patients
Services Provided
- 52 patients received free spectacles
- 42 patients were advised for cataract surgery
- 7 patients underwent cataract surgery
- All examinations, consultations, medicines, and spectacles were provided free of cost
Monastics, volunteers, and staff of the Ashrama worked actively to ensure smooth organization of the camp.
Patients were served tea and snacks at the beginning, and cooked prasad at the end. The initiative was well appreciated by the beneficiaries and reflected the Ashrama’s continued commitment to compassionate service and community healthcare.
