Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, Pietermaritzburg (a sub-centre of Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, Durban) organised an Optometry Clinic in association with the Blind and Deaf Society on 19th July, 2026, to commemorate Nelson Mandela International Day (18th July).
Observed globally on 18th July each year to mark the birthday of former President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Nelson Mandela, the day honours his 67 years of public service, encouraging individuals worldwide to devote 67 minutes to community service.
The clinic provided vision testing, prescription of spectacles, and identification of patients requiring cataract surgery. A total of 38 patients were examined and served.
