Inauguration of a Six-Foot Seated Statue of Swami Vivekananda: Thanjavur, April 2026

Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur

On the auspicious occasion of the Tamil New Year, a sacred event was organized at the Village Empowerment Centre of Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur. The highlight of the celebration was the formal inauguration of a six-foot seated statue of Swami Vivekananda.

It may be recalled that the Vivekananda Empowerment Centre was graciously inaugurated last year by the Most Revered Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. During that initial phase, the six-foot seated statue of Swami Vivekananda was unveiled by Swami Jnanavratanandaji Maharaj, Treasurer, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. However, due to the absence of a suitable permanent location at that time, the statue could not be installed in a manner ideal for public darshan.

A proper and serene location has now been arranged at the centre, enabling devotees and visitors to offer their respects to Swamiji in a befitting spiritual atmosphere. On 14 April 2026, the sacred installation was formally inaugurated by the distinguished educationist, Sri T. Krishnasamy Vandaiyar, Chairman and Correspondent of Poondi Pushpam College, Thanjavur.

The proceedings were marked by the performance of Kumkum Archana and Deeparadhana, which enhanced the sanctity and devotional fervor of the occasion. A benedictory address was delivered by Swami Vimurtananda. The event was attended by approximately 120 devotees, who participated in the joyful and spiritually uplifting celebration.
