Inauguration of Air Quality Monitoring Station and Seminar on Climate Change: Viveknagar (Agartala), July 2026

In a significant stride toward environmental awareness and campus sustainability, Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, Agartala, officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art Air Quality Monitoring Station on its campus today, 9 July 2026. The launch was accompanied by an educational seminar aimed at sensitizing students to pressing global ecological challenges.

The Inauguration of Air Quality Monitoring Station

The Air Quality Monitoring Station was formally inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Kalyan Rudra, an eminent river scientist, environmentalist, and member of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The event took place in the auspicious presence of Swami Shubhakarananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, Agartala. This vital environmental initiative was made possible through the generous corporate social responsibility (CSR) support of WTL, Kolkata. The newly installed station will play a crucial role in tracking local atmospheric data and fostering environmental research on campus.

Special Seminar: Climate Change and Anthropocene Instability

Following the inauguration, a special seminar titled “Climate Change and Anthropocene Instability” was organized for students at the Vivekananda Sabhagriha at 11:00 AM.

As the keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Kalyan Rudra delivered an enlightening address, offering deep insights into human-induced environmental shifts. He engaged with the students on several critical sub-themes, including:

  • Deforestation & Afforestation: The ecological consequences of losing forest cover and the urgent need for strategic tree-planting initiatives.
  • Agronomy Management: Shifting agricultural practices to adapt to climate unpredictability.
  • Urban Expansion: The environmental pressures caused by rapid, unplanned urbanization.
  • Renewable Energy: The critical transition away from fossil fuels toward sustainable energy alternatives.
