The inauguration ceremony of Ramakrishna Mission, Hajrapara, a sub-centre of Ramakrishna Mission, Somsar, was held on 23 August 2026 with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervour in the presence of devotees and a large gathering of local people.
The programme commenced at 8.00 a.m. with a colourful Prabhat Pheri (procession). Tableaus depicting Sri Sri Thakur Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sri Maa Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda were carried in the procession, which was further enlivened by the participation of NCC cadets, a band party and tribal dance groups. A large number of villagers, devotees and well-wishers enthusiastically joined the procession.
As part of the inaugural observances, special Puja and Homa of Sri Sri Thakur were performed on 22 August 2026.
The programme was graced by the presence of Revered Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, who blessed the gathering on the occasion. Swami Amalatmananda delivered the welcome address. Swami Shivapradananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapeeth, Purulia, attended the programme as a special guest and addressed the gathering.
A series of devotional and cultural programmes was arranged as part of the occasion. Devotional songs were presented by Smt. Sarojini Ghosh, TV artist, and Smt. Suchana Nandy. A Geetialekhya titled Yugavatar Sri Ramakrishna, presented by Sri Ramakrishna Sangeetanjali, Belur, was also staged before the large audience.
The occasion witnessed the enthusiastic participation of devotees and people from the surrounding villages. About 6,500 people were served Khichuri Prasad at noon, bringing the day-long celebration to a close in an atmosphere of devotion, joy and fellowship.
