A Joyful Occasion
The Ramakrishna Mission branch in Kharupetia was inaugurated with great joy on May 12th, 2024, a blessed day of Shankar Panchami. The General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Swami Suvirananda ji Maharaj, presided over the ceremony.
The Ceremony Unfolds
The auspicious day began with Mangala Arati, followed by Vedic chanting, Special puja, homa (fire sacrifice), puspanjali, and Virat Bhoga were performed to Sri Sri Thakur.
Swami Suvirananda Ji then inaugurated the newly built dining hall, a welcome space for both monks and devotees.
The afternoon unfolded with a formal inauguration ceremony. The monks’ serene chants filled the air, followed by greetings to all the esteemed monks and dignitaries present.
Sharing the Mission’s Light
Swami Jnanamritananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Kharupetia addressed the gathering, expressing his heartfelt gratitude to everyone whose dedication and service helped shape the Ashram.
Swami Hitakamananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong; Swami Achyuteshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar; Swami Atmashuddhananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati delivered insightful speeches. They explored various aspects of the Ramakrishna Movement and how its ideals could be implemented in the newly established Kharupetia Ashram.
A Beacon of Hope
Swami Suvirananda Ji spoke of the Ramakrishna Movement’s growth and its transformative impact on the world. You envisioned the Kharupetia Ashram, though a seemingly small part of the vast Ramakrishna Mission, fulfilling its duty by uplifting society in this remote corner of Assam.
Gracing the Occasion
The ceremony was further honored by the presence of esteemed guests like Sri Bhaskar Pegu, an IAS officer from the Assam Chief Minister’s Secretariat and a former student of the Ramakrishna Mission, Along, Arunachal Pradesh. He generously dedicated his time by staying until the program’s conclusion.
Sri Sushil Ranjan Saha, the Vice President of the Managing Committee, shared a heartwarming account of the Ashram’s journey from its humble beginnings.
Serving the Community
Following the speeches, Swami Suvirananda Ji distributed essential items. 300 women received saris, and 244 students received educational supplies.
The ceremony culminated with a prasad distribution, where nearly 3,000 people shared a meal in the spirit of community. The following day, Swami Suvirananda Ji visited the school managed by the same managing committee.
