The Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Kankhal, marked a significant milestone in its commitment to public health and welfare with the formal inauguration of the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) scheme on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

The Sevashrama, known for its extensive medical services to the needy, is now a recognized hospital under this flagship national health protection scheme, enabling it to extend specialized financial relief to its patients.

Inaugural Ceremony

The scheme was formally inaugurated by Srimat Swami Gautamananda ji, President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, adding great sanctity and importance to the occasion. The inauguration signifies the Ashrama’s dedication to making quality, advanced healthcare accessible to the marginalized, in line with the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda.

Significance of the Scheme

The integration of the AB PM-JAY scheme at the Sevashrama is a transformative step for the surrounding communities. The scheme provides a robust health insurance cover of up to ₹5,00,000 (Five Lakh Rupees) per family per year.

This substantial coverage is specifically designed to support patients requiring secondary and tertiary care hospitalization in recognized hospitals like the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Kankhal. It effectively eliminates the financial barriers that often prevent the poor and vulnerable from accessing critical medical treatment, thereby reinforcing the Sevashrama’s mission of compassionate service.

The successful inauguration promises to enhance the quality and affordability of the medical services offered, ensuring comprehensive and compassionate care for thousands of deserving families.
