International Yoga Day 2026: Halasuru, Bengaluru

The International Day of Yoga was observed at Ramakrishna Math, Halasuru, Bengaluru, on 21 June 2026, with the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

The programme commenced with Vedic chanting, followed by a welcome address by Shri Venkatesh, Yoga Instructor. The inaugural lamp was lit by the dignitaries present, after which the gathering was addressed by Swami Muktipadananda, who spoke on the importance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental balance, and spiritual well-being.

The Chief Guest of the function, Shri V. V. Bhaskar, Director General of Police (Retd.), Government of Karnataka, delivered an inspirational address on the significance of Yoga Day and its observance in more than 190 countries across the world.

A demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol was thereafter conducted by experienced yoga instructors, in which the participants enthusiastically took part, performing various yogic practices and breathing exercises.

Following this, the Adhyaksha Maharaj of the Centre guided the participants through a meditation session and delivered a benedictory address. He observed that yoga, when practised in the light of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, becomes a means of harmonising the body, mind, and spirit, leading to inner strength and spiritual growth.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by volunteer Shri S. Vinay, followed by the National Anthem and refreshments. A total of 130 devotees participated in and benefited from the celebration.
