Every year Ramakrishna Mission, Ranchi organises 4 Regional Kisan Melas (Block Level) and 1 Central Kisan Mela (District Level) to create awareness among the farmers about the latest technologies of Agriculture and allied trades for last 41 years. This year, the 42nd Central Kisan Mela was organised at Getalsud Demonstration Farm, Angara, Ranchi on 13 and 14 February. The Sponsors of the Mela were – NABARD, RANCHI; National Horticulture Board; Directorate of Mustard and Rape Seed, Bharatpur, Rajasthan; Department of Welfare, Govt. of Jharkhand;) Petroleum Conservation and Research Association (PCRA).
Inaugural day
The Mela was inaugurated by Swami Lokottarananda ji, Trustee of Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission, Adhyakshya, Kamarpukur and Sri Sanjany Senth, Hon’ble MP, Ranchi, Sri Sudesh Mahto, MLA, Silli, Sri Anjani Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Patna and other distinguished guests. It was presided over by Swami Lokottaranandaji Maharaj.
Concluding day
The chief guest of the Mela was Sri Rajesh Kachhap, MLA, Khijri Assembly Constituency, Sri Jatashankar Choudhury, Director, Jharkhand Higher Secretary Education Board, Sri Jay Nigam, DGM, NABARDand the other honourable guests. Swami Atmapriyananda ji, Vice-Chancellor, RKMVERI presided the meeting on the final day.
Various private and government agencies, educational and technical institutes put up their stalls to showcase their products to the visiting farmers and common people. There were special stalls with a live demonstration of different agricultural technologies for the effective transfer of knowledge to the farmers.
Kisan Gosthis with about 700 farmers were organised on both days of the Mela to address different queries and problems of the farmers in the agriculture and allied sector.
Around 20000, villagers, farmers and common public attended the Mela on both the day making it a grand success to achieve its objectives.
