Medical Camp: Durban, May 2026

Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, Durban, South Africa

The Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, Durban, conducted a free medical outreach programme on Sunday, 24 May 2026, at Chatsworth, Durban. The camp was organised as a comprehensive multi-specialty health initiative, extending medical care to patients from the local community without charge.

A total of 311 patients were attended to across a wide range of specialist disciplines. The medical services provided included:

  • Medicine (General)
  • Paediatrics
  • Gynaecology
  • ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat)
  • Optometry
  • Audiology
  • Speech Therapy
  • Social Support Services

In addition to specialist consultations, Breast Cancer screening was made available and availed of by 99 patients — a particularly significant public health initiative given the need for early detection in under-served communities. Laboratory services, blood donation facilitation, and the dispensing of medication were also carried out during the camp.

Meals were served to all patients and volunteers present throughout the day, ensuring that those who had travelled to attend were adequately cared for.
